This one-day Forensic Awareness course is designed to introduce learners to the theory and skills required to preserve forensic evidence at a crime scene.

Course Description

This course is aimed at any personnel who attend crime scenes or encounter victims of crime including paramedics, members of the fire service, police officers and medical staff.

This training course is delivered by Alison Chadwick who has nearly two decades of experience as a Crime Scene Investigator and Crime Scene Manager in Lancashire Constabulary. Through the LFSA, Alison delivers CSI and CSM courses to police and scientific support staff. 

The course covers the theory behind scene preservation, packaging, integrity, and continuity, and an understanding of the potential contamination of crime scenes.

Aims and Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand how to mitigate contamination at crime scenes
  • How to recover and package relevant material
  • Apply correct procedures when preserving and storing material recovered from crime scenes
  • Identify preservation strategies
