Course Description

This course will cover immediate life support training (ILS) in dentistry and the recognition and management of sedation-related complications including oversedation and respiratory depression. It complies with the outcomes recommended by SDCEP and IACSD.  It is designed for all dental staff who manage adults with conscious sedation.

SDCEP guidance suggests that ‘staff should receive regular training in sedation related complications….’ And IACSD guidance suggests that age-appropriate life support training should be performed annually. This has to be equivalent to (but does not need to be accredited by) Resus Council UK but may be adapted to the needs of dental practice’. This is a unique course designed for the dental team to comply with current guidance and maintain safe and appropriate care for adult patients being treated with conscious sedation.
