The School of Social Work, Care and Community is proud of its national reputation for delivering high quality education for social work, social care, the children and young people’s workforce, and community leadership and engagement. The School has a vibrant community of research-active staff engaged in a wide range of research activities that make a difference to the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged people, and which influences policy and practice both strategically and at grassroots level. Working closely with a wide range of stakeholders, the School is premised upon supporting and embedding the principles of social justice across all activities and making a significant contribution to ‘Creating Better Futures’.

About the School

The School aims to be recognised as a world-class provider of innovative, real-world education and research that is underpinned by a commitment to social justice. The School works closely with students to help them develop their potential and actively make a positive difference in the community. We deliver a wide portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as offering a broad range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities for professionals working within the social work and social care fields.

The School aims:

  • to be the sector lead in social work and social care education, community volunteering and leadership, and services and systems for the children and young people’s workforce
