During this two day course students will learn how to travel safely in winter mountain terrain using ice axe and crampons.  You’ll also learn the fundamentals of navigation and avalanche awareness.  This course is aimed at those with limited experience of using ice axe and crampons and serves as a bridging course in order to join the PGDip Mountain Medicine (following a period of consolidation).

Course Description

The course fee includes three nights shared accommodation at the Glen Nevis Hostel and food package including light breakfast, basic packed lunch and evening meal.

Accommodation available from the evening of 11th February 2025.

Students are expected to provide their own winter walking equipment including, ice axe, crampons and helmet. Should you have any questions regarding technicalities of suitable equipment please do get in touch. Hiring some of this equipment is an option and should be arranged sooner rather than later.
